Is this considered abuse?

hitting them in anyway because they won’t listen to you is abuse.
if you can’t calmly talk to your child and have them listen, maybe you should talk to them more about what’s going and think about what you should do as a parent to make it a safe and comfortable environment.

A different example that you might understand better is like if your kid is not listening and is saying bad words (or In my experience talking back to much or giving to much attitude.) and they won’t listen to your words, pop their mouth, but if you smack them it’s abuse. Does that help?

You’re right child do need discipline however spanking, yelling, and kneeling on things are the wrong way of discipline. A child is going to react negatively. You are making it so hard to believe you that you had been abused because as someone that has been abused when they were younger I want to do better in my parenting than what my mother did.

Yes. Doctors say spanking is wrong, hitting is wrong, yelling is wrong. And that it damages children!

Wolves she could be like my mom, my mom was abused by her mom so my mom is slightly better and thinks that means she isn't abusive. She could think as long as it isn't as bad as her mom treated her then its not abuse.

I guess, i just have a hard time understanding why someone doesn’t want to break the cycle of abuse.

I was spanked and yelled at as a child. i’ve lost most of my trust from my dad.
when i went to a mental hospital, he put tons of restrictions on my phone.
it’s now more laid back but that hurt to know that my mental state deemed me as untrustworthy.
