Is this considered abuse?

Is this considered abuse?

Postby Sunshine Lover » Wed Apr 21, 2021 1:10 am

Just to be clear neither my parents or anyone else's parents that I know of did this. I'm just wondering. Is it considered abuse to make your kid kneel on uncooked rice as a punishment?

Yes it is a abuse. This was actually done in a movie called The Secret Life of Bees.

I never realized, my mom used to do this to me and does it to my brother. I was always told me that pain was the only way the lesson(that I shouldnt do a certain thing) would stick..

Pain is definitely not the only way of teaching discipline.

Really? So you think hurting your child is going to teach them?
I don't.
I think it scares them from trusting their parents, and it's frickin' hurting your own child!

What? You think hurting your child on purpose, is "just a form of discipline"? What kind of sick person are you? Hurting your child, makes them not trust you and become afraid of you. I have more to say but no time so I might carry on later.

Kneeling on rice is not a disciplinary action. That is straight up abuse. There are other ways of disciplining a child.
