Veganism is the elimination of all animal products from the diet/life. So a vegan does not eat fish or any meat, nor any dairy products from animals, milk, cheese, butter, eggs ice cream etc. They don't eat honey or wear leather. They don't buy or use/eat anything with animal byproduct in it.

There is also vegetarianism which is were you don't eat meat or fish.

There are sublabels in vegetarianism, all vegetarians fit a sublabel otherwise they are vegans.

Lacto vegetarians eat milk and dairy but no meat/animal/eggs

Ovo vegetatarians eat eggs but not milk/dairy

Pescatarians eat no meat/animal except for fish.

Lacto-ovo vegetarians eat milk and eggs but no meat/fish/animal

You can probably be a lacto-ovo pescatarian as well.

This is what I know of. I've only heard of lacto-ovo vegetarians but i'm sure you can be just lacto or just ovo.

vegetarian? I plan to do so as well. With the occasional exception if I go on a trip or something.

Vegetarian = no meat/fish or essentially anything that is made with dead animals

Vegan = no animal products at all (no meat/fish/eggs/milk/cheese/honey)

It doesn't have to be complicated. You don't need to worry about a million sub categories - if you don't eat meat/fish or eggs (for example), you're a vegetarian that eats dairy etc.
